About us
The Carpaterra Geopark is a sustainable development territory created as a partnership between local municipalities, educational institutions, and non-governmental organizations.
The geopark covers an area of 27,099.69 hectares and extends across the following localities: Racoș, Mateiaș, Homorod, Mercheașa, Jimbor, Rupea Gară, Fișer, and the town of Rupea.
The mission of the Carpaterra Geopark is to foster community development from educational, touristic, and socio-cultural perspectives by applying the values of UNESCO Global Geoparks and working toward joining the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network.
